Inspiring Place Presentation 17/09/10

It was a long long Friday... We had presentation in the morning and lectures and tutorial meeting in the afternoon.  It was my first presentation in my university life. Quite remarkable, lol.
At the beginning, I saw people went in with their portfolio cases and A1 sheets of work. It shocked me since I thought we did not need to print out our stuffs to do this presentation. It was the problem of misunderstanding in different languages, again, my problematic English. However, the presentation went through more smoothly than I thought before.

My final form of presentation was showing a 2 min video about the place. I was desperately editing it last night and I hope I shall never do last minute work again X/
wow, the video quality is reduced a lot on the web -_-lll !

I went down to Douglas Street two times during this week. The first time I saw this fascinating place was on the rainy Tuesday afternoon. Thanks Yuntong who let me to come along with her to her inspiring place (also on Douglas Street). My favourite staircases and ruined doors and windows etc were just at the end of the street.

There are some photos that I put in the video.

The street is very narrow, so it was difficult to capture a complete view of the building when I stood on the opposite side. Therefore, I took several photos from one side to the other and photoshop them together.

The thing most impressed me is the shape of the outside staircase.

messy graffiti fits greatly to the environment

The vibrant contrasting colours impacted me a lot. However, the quality of the photograph seems to be reduced after uploading to the blog-_-///

Little sketch of the place. I intended to do some more drawings but did not have enough time...

It is quite hard for me to express in words that how a place inspire me. The inspiration was just a sensation at the first sight you saw the place and a voice said in your mind 'that's it'. The old, ruined, incomplete, fragmental structures, such particular type of image suddenly arouse me an aesthetic feel. And it is a worthwhile experience to collect and gather the interesting parts of a place together for further references. I still need to print them together on an A1 sheet. :P
